| After
reading your review on Cafe Brenda and hearing your comments on Vegetarian
options in the Twin Cities, I felt the need to write in and comment. I
have happily been reading your reviews for many months now and am always
excited to see a new posting. I am a Vegetarian (I eat eggs and dairy but
no seafood and meat) but definitely still always want to go out and enjoy
the restaurant scene in the Twin Cities. As a consequence I have eaten
some very interesting food in the Twin Cities - recently Braised Endive at
Vincent (fried lettuce) and a terrible Vegetarian plate at Oceanaire which
I have had to suffer through multiple times due to the propensity of work
dinners to be held at this locale. I also cringe at working out near
Redstone and the fact that I also get dragged to this absolutely
Vegetarian unfriendly restaurant once a month (not one entree on the menu
is veggie). Pretty much everywhere else in the Minneapolis does a nice job
with Vegetarian.
But, here is some of what I would recommend: The Newsroom makes their own hummus (strange place to get hummus I know...) and serves it as an appetizer at dinner and hopefully by this point at lunch. But you do get three wonderful flavors ranging from wasabi to fresh mustard to roasted tomato. Cafe Barbette (which you have already reviewed) does great vegetarian food, in particular their crepes and French Fries Chiang Mai Thai is great for lunch as it is never as crowded as it gets at dinner. Their full menu is also available. They do good vegetarian although it takes a lot of visits to find something that you can really enjoy. I recommend the Yellow Curry and also the Connundrum wine that is one their "Wicked Whites" wine menu. Just a few recommendations - let me know if you guys have seen anything hugely interesting in the way of Vegetarian as I am definitely always looking. Thanks for all the reviews! Becky |
